So, we have made it into the 3rd week of December, the holidays are here! Still got a lot to go until the end of the year. If you still have holiday shopping to do, going to these Holiday markets are a great idea! We wanted to share more information about this week of December and then a list of our Hand Selected Events. Astoria Holiday Market

 

At the subway station “Astoria Boulevard” you will find the Astoria Market. In the main hall of the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden you can stroll over to a flea market where you can buy products from local designers and artists. Astoria Market is to Queens what Chelsea Market is to Manhattan.  

Time: December 18, 2022 - Hours: 12 – 6 pm

Lighting the World's Largest Hanukkah Menorahs

In Manhattan and Brooklyn, there is a small competition for the world’s largest Hanukkah Menorah. On December 22nd, the Jewish “Festival of Lights” begins and this starts with the lighting of the largest Menorah in the world. The gold, 400-pound, 32-foot steel structure can be admired both in front of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and at the Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn. The lighting of the Menorah is one of the great events in NYC in December. Music is played and food is offered as well. 

Time: In Manhattan, the event begins at 5:30 pm, on Fridays at 3:30 pm and Saturdays at 8:00 pm. Brooklyn, the lights will be on at 6:00 pm, on Friday at 3:30 pm and on Saturday at 7:00 pm. 

Location: Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, right outside of the Plaza Hotel at 5:30 pm every night.

Hanukkah Sameach! (Happy Hanukkah!)

 

Numeral Arrival at Times Square

 

Everyone knows the famous illuminated year on the top of Times Square. But few know that you can take photos of it while standing in front of it! Every December at the “Numeral Arrival”, it is placed in Times Square for a few days before it is lifted up to the famous ball that drops on New Year’s Eve. This is a great opportunity for photos!

Time: December 20th- 23rd, 11 am to 11:59pm

Grand Holiday Bazaar

 

During the holiday season, Grand Bazaar hosts a seasonal version of its iconic flea market. The curated market takes place on Sundays on Manhattan’s Upper West Side yearlong but pulls out all the stops during the holiday season. Anyone interested in furniture, vintage clothing, jewelry, and crafts will feel like they are in a Yuletide paradise here. Be sure to come hungry!
