Welcome October!

From the WJFNY family to yours, we want to share a list of October events allover NYC.  It is of course combined with Halloween events. Please enjoy the events and feel free to come back to our page and give us a review about your experience here.

1. The New York Comic Con 2022

Description: Ready to meet your favorite Anime Character or join the adventures of the Marvel Universe?

Time: New York Comic Con is from October 6 to October 9, 2022. 

Location: New York Comic Con 2022 is at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Eleventh Ave in Hell's Kitchen.

2. NewFest - LGBTQ+ Film and Media | New York

Description: The 34th Annual New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival will take place throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn and virtually across the US. One of the most respected LGBTQ+ festivals, with a historic and global legacy of filmmakers and talking about their stories.

Time: The NewFest will be running from October 13-25

Location: This will be a Hybrid model, so you can watch the movies in the comfort of your own home or in the theatres in the schedule link.

3. Village Puppy Halloween Parade

Description: The Halloween Parade is fun and all, but does it have a hundred’s if not more of puppies in adorable outfits? To see these adorable 4-legged animals, you’ll have to head to this annual dog parade.

Time: Saturday, October 22.  Registration starts at 12pm and the competition starts at 1pm.

4. Taste of the Seaport – Kids Zone

Description: Pumpkins. Kids are invited to come and get creative with pumpkin decorations for Halloween or even Thanksgiving. These fun, hands on workshops led by Private Picassos are free to all, with multiple dates and times available. No tickets required: simply drop in and get creating.

Time: Saturday, October 15, 12pm–3pm

 5. Movies on the Pier

 

 

Description: What is Halloween without a bunch of scary movies? On October 30, you can catch one, two, or any of the 5 movies showing on The Rooftop at Pier 17. The movies are free, open to the general public, and no tickets to worry about and food stands will be open.

Time: October 30, 2022

12:30pm – Scooby-Doo

2:30pm – The Addams Family

4:30pm – Casper

6:30pm – Hocus Pocus

8:30pm – Ghostbusters

6. Astrological Nouveau Circus in Brooklyn

Description: When you see this circus, you are combining dance, acrobatics, theatre, music and visual arts, this amazing experience. From the nouveau circus acts, it’s perfect for astrology fans, New Agers, or anyone who wants a unique night out!

Time: Saturdays during October, 2022. 8:30 pm. Show starts at 8:45 pm

7. Dress up for the Village Halloween Parade

Description: The Village Halloween Parade, NYC’s creative and spooky procession, is one of the best Halloween events in Greenwich Village. Each year, more than 50,000 zombies, ghouls, witches, monsters, robots, Jedis, giant puppets, your not going to want to miss this!!

Time: The Parade starts at 7:00 pm and ends around 11:00 pm.

Location: The Parade runs straight up 6th Ave. from Canal to West15th Street

 8. Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

Description: The massive blaze has two locations—Hudson Valley at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson and Blaze: Long Island returns to Old Bethpage Village Restoration in Old Bethpage.

Time:

Hudson Valley from September 16 through November 20.

Long Island September 30 through November 6.

Location: Hudson Valley Van Cortlandt Manor or Long Island Old Bethpage Village Restoration

9. Metropolitan Opera: Medea

Description: A fiery retelling of a seminal Greek myth, Medea is as compelling as it is disturbing, never more so than when the title character enacts her revenge on her unfaithful lover by taking the lives of their two children.

Location: 30 Lincoln Center Plaza

Time: Throughout October
